In our house, we love ketchup – on everything. French fries, breaded chicken, meatloaf…etc. I have been wanting to try a homemade version just to see if I could come close to our favorite brand. My only issue was that I didn’t want to make a huge quantity, just in case it didn’t work out!
I came across a recipe that used 1 can of tomato paste as the base and since it didn’t make a huge amount, I had to give it a try! I made a few changes (because sticking to a recipe is almost impossible for me! ) and came up with the recipe below. The inspiration recipe is from Cook, Dance, Sing – you can check it out here. She served hers with Black Bean Burgers and a quick Slaw…Yum! Not quite as “vinegary” as our favorite brand – this version has more depth of flavor. I really like it, as did the kids…
